My PEDEGO and I, left this morning at 10:00 A.M. and came home at around 2:15 P.M. How “time flies” when you are having fun. I put on 24 km. I think I was pedaling away as far and as long as I could from the phone call that I was expecting from the oncologist. But, that didn't work after all. Dr. Galbraith called at 3:00 P.M. to ask if I wanted to be part of a clinical trial of a new chemo treatment at the Vancouver Hospital. I will keep you posted as to when I will begin another round of chemo. Hopefully this time it will do it's job. Wouldn't that be incredible!!!
These tulips and dandelions are on Thornton's property, on Castleman Rd. I am on my way to see Tony and Linda Klassen to let them know that we will be coming to Emma's birthday party. No need to email or phone if you can get on your bike and respond in person. Well, wouldn't you know. I got there just in time for coffee. How nice is that!
Here is Julia, ready to have her picture taken. Emma and Leah were in school.
Tony (nephew) and Linda Klassen live on Chapman Rd. What a good view they have of Cheam Peak and Lady Peak.
Linda and Julia getting the mail.
Now it's time for me to travel on.
Now it's time for me to travel on.
My other mission today, was to take photos of old barns. This one is at the corner of Chapman and Yale Rd.
I turned left on to Yale Rd., headed east, all the way to Ford Rd.; turned right, and now I am going south, all the way to Chilliwack Central Rd.
I didn't get any photos of old barns on Ford Rd.
I turned right onto Chilliwack Central Rd. and there was a good one...
...some are small...(these are garden sheds built by one of the members from the conservative Mennonite church in Rosedale; they hail from the Burns Lake area).
...some are metal and used for cows...
...some look empty...
...
...this one is neither Mennonite nor Dutch...
...and this is the home Peter and I built in 1976.
This is what it looked like the day before. This barn is about 100 yrs. old. The land belongs to the Pentecostal church.
I am still on Chilliwack Central Rd. This is Eden Mennonite Church, in Chilliwack; built in 1961. This is where Peter and I were baptized and married (1969). This is the church we are attending and here we still have family and friends. For more information on the church, look up Eden Mennonite Church (Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada)
My bike and I took Broadway Ave. and then turned right onto Carleton St. This was my home. My parents bought it in 1967 for $21,000.
Just kitty corner from my home lived my friend, Lil (Enns) Bartel. Fondly remembering our walks to school...
Turning right onto Yale Rd. and it's all the way home from here. It is still cool even with the sun shining down on us. The wind is quite strong and once again I am thankful for the little battery on my bike; I sure used it when I made my escape from those two black dogs that were barking and running after me on Chapman Rd.
I cycled passed Wilmer and Hertha’s home. Wilmer was mowing his lawn. I waved, he waved back, but I don't think he recognized me...
(He emailed back saying: “Yes, I did.” “I told Hertha you had gone by.”)
I lost track of time; I am home and so is Peter. Looks like our neighbour, Bill Oosterlaar, came to talk.
Take good care,
Hilda
